Is High Definition Porn Too Perfect?
In the last few years, the invention of High Definition visual entertainment has taken the world by storm. The craving began with mainstream DVD movies, but it wasn’t very long before we were blessed with porn shot in HD. From the very first HD porn video I watched, gone were the days of hiding blemishes, pimples and human imperfections. In HD, nothing is hidden. I couldn’t decided whether I liked that or not to be honest with you and still can’t. I’m 42 years old and grew up seeing witnessing the switch from film to vhs. That in itself was incredible to see. Suddenly there were no film lines or “cracks” and the productions were almost flawless. “Almost” is they key word here. There is something to be said for slight imperfections and the amateur look of a movie for me. Whether it’s porn or otherwise.
Since porn sites have started shooting their productions with HD equipment, I have reviewed a lot of them. Many times I try to decide what I like better. At this point in time, I still prefer the rawness of “mere” good quality video. I still won’t say that HD isn’t better though. I just think it’s going to take a while to get used to it. I’m sure I’m not alone in that aspect either.
In one HD video I reviewed you could literally see everything. It was a pretty hardcore anal penetration scene and nothing was left to the imagination. Without going into grotesque details, just imagine seeing the inside of a guy’s asshole in perfect clarity. Yeah, you now get my point. Unless you’re seriously into that kind of thing, HD versions of that sort of action can really turn a guy’s stomach. Another time I saw the biggest boil I’ve ever seen in my life on a twink’s ass. I’m pretty open minded, but puss filled boils on a sweet set of buttocks kind of throws off the eroticism for this guy. Again, in any other format of video and after being rendered down for member convenience, that boil
probably would have barely been noticed. In HD however, it’s right there in your face.
Like any new concept, HD is going to be hard to get used to. Even with mainstream movies. Being a fan of black and white oldies and 70’s gay porn, too much clarity is tough for me to handle I guess. I know there are others out there who agree with me. Are you one of them?
