Porn Misinformation

Ok so you’re surfing around looking for the kind of porn you love. It could be hunks sucking and fucking each other, twinks getting whipped, or even just some guy sniffing his sneakers while jerking off. It doesn’t matter really. You just know what you like and want some of it. So you Google in the keywords that fit what you’re seeking out and a few thousand links come up that supposedly lead you to your favorite fetish. After going through the utter crap and avoiding really long links that might be harmful to your computer, you finally find a blog with some hot posts on it. You like what you read and decide to click on the link taking you to the site’s tour. When you get there you can’t find the model you just read a post on. In fact, none of the models on this tour are remotely even close to the one that turned you on. Furthermore, they aren’t engaged in the kind of activity you were looking for. Has this happened to you? It has to me. A lot.

I call it “Porn Misinformation”. Don’t ask me why people do it. The whole idea of an adult affiliate is to point you to a site they’re trying to make 50% of a sale off of memberships to. Yet they send you to some place you want absolutely nothing to do with. It’s a good bet that affiliate might speak english as a second language, or that post was what you might call “filler” in order to update the blog so the search engines crawl it regularly. Of course, these are just a few reasons why they might be doing something so counterproductive. Again, your guess is as good as mine.

My point here is that there are a lot of affiliates in the adult industry who have no clue what they’re doing. I don’t profess to be the “guru” of porn, but I’ve been doing this for a while now and feel I’ve developed a knack for giving my surfers what they’re looking for. It took the knowledge of some good internet friends and a lot of trial and error before I got to that point though. Not everyone is like me I suppose. They don’t have the patience to learn, or won’t drop their egos long enough to stop and listen. Like any business, you have to listen to those who know what they’re doing. Take the information you learn from them and create your own strategy.

Chances are if you’re the kind of person who visits blogs a lot you’re familiar with the “Blogroll” and “Top Lists” in the sidebars. These are link trades the blogmaster has made with other adult affiliates. We do that in order to get a better search engine ranking and build up our traffic. I don’t know how many times I’ve traded with sites or blogs who don’t provide what their domain name suggests. If I own and run a blog featuring hairy men, why would I want to trade links with a site that features young, smooth, non-hairy “boys”? Unless I know I’ll get quality traffic from that source, there’s no use in making the trade. Whenever this happens I just delete the person’s links and tell them what I think in an email. This is what I mean about clueless people. You’ll see them.

So what’s the solution? Stick to what you’re used to. If you’ve found a great review site like Gay Porn Police, love what you see and read, stick with them. Chances are they’ll do their research and provide you with what you’re looking for on a regular basis. After all, if you’re going to spend your money you want to get what you’re promised right? Indeed you do.
